About the Park
Rocky Mountain National Park is a sprawling 415 square mile park that offers a dynamic range of different mountain environments, trails, overlooks, campgrounds, and day-use areas. When it comes to wedding ceremonies, the park has a strict system that restricts the locations, dates, times, and group size of the events. Regardless of group size the park requires you to apply for a $300 permit ($225 with my planning services) that provides your group access to a designated ceremony site for a specific 2 hour window. Each ceremony site ranges in accessibility, photo opportunities, privacy, and max group size.

“We are so grateful to Iver and his team (Jonathan, Chris, Dan) for helping make our wedding day run so smoothly! They coordinated everything perfectly! When it unexpectedly rained, they even brought umbrellas for everyone, which was such a kind and thoughtful touch. Thanks to them, we were able to relax and enjoy the day.”

Lily Lake (Picnic Area)
Max Group Size: 30
Offering beautiful mountain views alongside a quaint alpine lake, this location is great for slightly larger groups! The site is an easy 5min walk from the parking area, has vault toilets, and a good amount of parking. The area can be busy, but the ceremony site sits a bit off the main trail. -

3M Curve
Max Group Size: 15
Set in the midst of a mountain meadow, this location offers dynamic views in all directions and features a rock cropping perfect for the ceremony site. It is about a 4min hike down semi-rough terrain which can be challenging for elderly guests. There are no facilities on site, and the parking can be a bit limited, but still one of my favorite choices for smaller groups. -

Sprague Lake
Max Group Size: 15 Summer - 30 Winter
One of the most popular wedding locations in the park, this elegant lake dock offers panoramic mountain views, evergreen forests, and of course, a lake! This area is very popular and the dock is just off the main trail, so expect a lot of people in the area. The dock is an easy 7min walk along a dirt path. There are vault toilets on site, and a ton of parking, though even with the large lot it often times will fill up—so arrive early! -

Upper Beaver Meadows
Max Group Size: 30
Not available October - May
Featuring an expansive open field with panoramic mountain views, this location has a nice meadow vibe. It’s only a few minute walk, but does require crossing a narrow bridge that may not be suitable for elderly guests. The site is just off a busy trail with no features to separate you from people passing by. -

Lily Lake Dock
Max Group Size: 10
This spot features a quaint wooden dock and beautiful views! It is also one of the most accessibly spots in the park, with a smooth path directly from the adjacent parking. However, the proximity to the parking lot can have have a lot of people walking around the area. -

Moraine Amphitheater
Max Group Size: 30
One of the only sites in the park to offer privacy, seating, and your own parking spots! It does lack mountain views, but offers a nice forest vibe. Couples generally opt to do their portraits elsewhere in the park afterwards to get more dynamic views. -

Hidden valley
Max Group Size: 30
This location is nestled in a clearing surrounded by a beautiful forest of pines. This is the perfect location if you’re looking for more of an intimate forest vibe for the ceremony! -

Adventure!
Max Group Size: 4
Looking to get off the beaten path? I also offer customized adventure wedding packages in the Estes Park area. Ask me for details!

-
No. Dogs are not allowed at RMNP weddings or on park trails. The only exception is Moraine Park Discovery Center Amphitheater, which permits dogs at ceremonies.
-
The best time to elope in RMNP is the last two weeks of September through the first week of October. Temperatures are comfortable, crowds thin out, and the fall colors — especially the golden aspen trees — are at their peak.
-
Your ceremony must take place at your designated ceremony site, but you can go anywhere in the park for photos afterward. Trail Ridge Road is one of the best options for epic mountain portraits.
-
RMNP wedding permits become available one year in advance. Permits sell out quickly, especially for popular sites like 3M Curve and Sprague Lake during fall.
-
No. Decorations, arches, chairs, and similar items are not allowed at RMNP ceremony sites. The only exception is Moraine Park Discovery Center Amphitheater, which has built-in seating and allows some setup.
-
We suggest having umbrellas and a good attitude. Small weddings like this are short, and Colorado rain comes and goes — you can often wait out the worst of it in your car before continuing.
-
No. If you have a wedding permit, you do not need a timed entry reservation to enter Rocky Mountain National Park. The wedding permit grants entry.
-
Yes. Even with a wedding permit, you still have to pay the day pass fee for each vehicle in your group.
-
No. There is no separate photography permit required for Rocky Mountain National Park weddings. Photography is covered under your wedding permit.
